General Terms and Conditions

For the use and purchase of standard software and subscriptions offered by Plainunit.

Provider and contact details

1. Scope

These terms apply to contracts between the provider identified under “Provider and contact details”, trading as Plainunit, and consumers and business customers. The terms consumer and business customer have the meanings defined in Sections 13 and 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB). Custom software development is not a standard subscription; its scope, fees, deadlines and rights of use are agreed in a separate offer. Individual agreements take precedence.

2. Services and technical requirements

The product description and order summary at the time the contract is concluded determine the services provided. They specify the included features, supported operating systems, required technical conditions and any restrictions. Creating an account alone does not establish a paid contract.

finfolder helps collect, process, review and export documents. Automatically recognised details may be incorrect and must be checked before use. Our software does not replace individual tax or legal advice. You must still comply with statutory bookkeeping and retention requirements; this does not limit our statutory obligations to provide the services or your rights in respect of defects.

3. Account and sign-in

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code that is valid for a limited time. You must have access to the email address you provide and protect your credentials and codes against unauthorised use. Please contact us without delay if you suspect misuse. We will not ask you by email to disclose a sign-in code.

4. Ordering and conclusion of the contract

Product presentations are an invitation to place an order. Before a paid order is placed, we display the product, the total price including VAT, payment frequency, term and cancellation conditions. You can check and correct your details before submitting them. By using the order button clearly labelled as creating an obligation to pay, you submit a binding offer. The contract is concluded when we expressly confirm it by email. A purely technical acknowledgement of receipt does not constitute acceptance.

The contract languages are German and English. The language you select when concluding the contract applies. Your order details and the contractual terms applicable at the time of purchase will be provided by email on a durable medium in that language. You can also print these terms or save them as a PDF.

5. Free trial period

The free finfolder trial lasts 30 days from activation of trial access. No credit card is required. There are no plan-based restrictions on features during the trial. The trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription. No subscription charges arise without an expressly completed order. The time-limited right of use ends when the trial ends; existing local files are not automatically deleted as a result.

6. Prices and payment

The finfolder monthly subscription costs €6.99 including VAT per month. The annual offer costs €69.90 including VAT for the first twelve months. The total price displayed before the order is placed is always decisive. Other products or custom services are charged at the prices expressly agreed for them.

Payment is made using the payment methods offered in Stripe Checkout for the particular order. Payment is due at the beginning of each paid period. Payments are processed by Stripe and, where applicable, the payment provider you select. Payment details are entered directly with them.

7. Term and cancellation

Monthly subscription: It continues for an indefinite period with monthly payments. You may cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current paid month.

Annual offer: The initial term is twelve months. If you do not cancel by the end of that period, the contract then continues for an indefinite period at €6.99 including VAT per month. From then on, you may cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current paid month. You are not automatically committed to another year. A new annual term requires your express selection and a corresponding new agreement.

Cancellation before the end of a period you have already paid for stops renewal; access remains available until that period ends. You can cancel by emailing info@plainunit.com. Your right to cancel through the electronic cancellation function required by law remains unaffected. The right to terminate for good cause and statutory rights to refunds also remain unaffected. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel a subscription. Before deletion, you must disable any renewal that is still enabled yourself. If renewal has already been disabled, account deletion may be scheduled for the end of the paid period. A free account may be deactivated immediately after confirmation. A seven-day restoration period begins when deletion starts; records that must be retained by law are kept separately.

8. Rights of use

For the agreed period, you receive a non-exclusive right to use the software within the agreed scope, privately or for your business. Redistribution or sublicensing is permitted only where expressly agreed or allowed by law. Mandatory statutory rights, particularly concerning backup copies, interoperability and permitted examination of software, remain unaffected. Your documents and business data remain yours; we acquire no rights to exploit them.

9. Updates, availability and your data

We provide the updates, including security updates, required by the contract and by law, and inform you when they are available. For digital products supplied continuously, statutory obligations apply throughout the supply period. For other digital products, the period is determined by the applicable legal requirements. We provide separate information about significant changes and any action required from you.

Account-based functions require an internet connection. Maintenance or disruptions to networks and connected services may temporarily affect features. Statutory rights in the event of service failures remain unaffected. You should regularly back up documents stored locally; this does not remove our own responsibility.

10. Rights in respect of defects and liability

Statutory rights in respect of defects apply, including, for consumers, the provisions governing digital products. Our liability is also governed by the applicable statutory provisions. These terms contain no blanket exclusion of liability and do not restrict mandatory consumer rights.

11. Consumer right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal as set out in the Withdrawal information . These terms do not automatically provide consent to the loss of that right. Business customers do not have a statutory consumer right of withdrawal.

12. Privacy and final provisions

Information about how personal data is handled is available in the Privacy policy. German law applies. Consumers retain the mandatory protection of the law of their habitual residence where that law applies. Statutory places of jurisdiction remain unaffected. Changes to these terms apply to existing contracts only on the basis of a valid agreement or an applicable legal provision.
